The Story

Lake Worth Beach at midnight offers the standard conditions for a sky story: flat water, a large moon, surfboards racked against a dark beach house. Florida keeps a long record of unexplained lights over water, filed locally under entertainment rather than evidence. The poster adopts the retro science-fiction format the subject was always going to get.

The Making

Composited in Photoshop with the beam built from masked glow layers over a limited vintage palette of six colors.
Palm and beach-house silhouettes constructed in Illustrator.
Atmospheric grain applied uniformly to seat the composited elements at one depth.
