Black Current

After dark, black and cream.

A single curling ocean wave rendered as concentric black-and-cream stripes forming a spiral barrel. Monochrome op-art.

The Story

A few miles off Lake Worth Beach, the Gulf Stream moves north faster than anything on land, carrying tropical strays. Never visible from shore, it is discussed daily by pier fishermen, the fishing depending on it. The wave honors it in contrast and repetition, no color.

The Making

  • Wave rebuilt in Illustrator as nested vector curves - a no-gradient system in black and cream only, optical rhythm set by line spacing that tightens toward the barrel's center.
  • Two colors, no texture pass.
  • Print-prepped at 2400 × 3000 px, 300 dpi, sRGB.

Own this print? Pin where it lives.

Every print made here heads out into the world: a hallway in Ohio, a kitchen in Oregon, a desk somewhere cold. If this one landed with you, drop a pin and put your town on the map.

It’s printed next to the QR code on the story card that came with your print.

City level only. Your pin shows the town, never your address.
